Manual jewelry component studies

One group amount.
A clear recorded scope.

Explain the manual amounts you assign to recorded metal and stone groups. Keep unknown values visible and design or workmanship increments separate from materials.

A different question from melt or net sale proceeds.

A weight-and-purity calculation explains a metal basis. A resale worksheet asks what an expected selling price might leave after entered costs. A component study asks how you allocated manual amounts among the metal and stone groups actually recorded in an inspection, for one stated purpose.

Choose a manual resale assumption or manual replacement assumption explicitly. The software does not choose the purpose for you, copy a buying factor or fetch a comparable. All amounts use one supported currency, USD or EUR, with no conversion between them. A later store-currency change does not relabel an older study.

This is a working allocation of entered assumptions. The replacement purpose does not generate an insurance document, certify an appraiser or establish a professional replacement valuation. Purpose, scope and source matter before a total can be interpreted.

Start with the saved inspection, not a blank list of prices.

Open the piece from Inventory and follow Component value study in a new tab. Review its saved inspection and the weight reconciliation before using that source. A new study requires a local item recorded as intake or available and a saved inspection containing at least one metal or stone component.

The study generates exactly one row for every saved metal component and stone group, up to twenty-four groups. Labels, recorded weights, purity, quantity, total carats, identity statements and evidence remain linked to that source. They are not independently authenticated by assigning a value.

Enter a whole-group amount and explain its rationale. A side-stone group containing three stones receives one amount for all three. Quantity and total carats describe the group; neither multiplies the entered amount. Optional reference choices come from the saved inspection and the relevant component or whole item, not a new external certificate lookup.

Design or setting and workmanship are two separate incremental non-material allowances. They exclude the metal and stones already valued. If your metal row covers the mount, adding a second material value called a setting would count the same material again. Explain the increment or enter an explicit zero with a rationale that no increment was allocated.

Five amounts, counted once.

The hypothetical ring above uses a metal-group amount of 620.15, a center-group amount of 450.20 and a side-group amount of 120.05. The operator adds 80.00 for incremental design and 35.10 for incremental workmanship. Exact cent addition produces a recorded-scope total ofUSD 1,305.50.

Recorded rowExample amountHow to read it
Metal groupUSD 620.15One entered amount for the recorded metal portion.
Center groupUSD 450.20A manual assumption, not a stone identification or verified comparable.
Three side stonesUSD 120.05The total group amount, not 120.05 per stone.
Design / setting incrementUSD 80.00Non-material increment, excluding the valued mount and stones.
Workmanship incrementUSD 35.10A separate entered allowance with its own rationale.

These numbers demonstrate the arithmetic only. They are not a current quote, suggested buying price, fee schedule or market recommendation. There is no asking-price change, offer, payment or inventory adjustment when the study is recorded.

An unpriced center does not become a zero-valued stone.

Leave the center-group amount unknown in that same example. The other entered amounts still add to USD 855.30, shown as the known recorded subtotal. The recorded-scope total stays unavailable because a component amount remains unknown. An explanatory note such as “stone identity not established; amount unpriced” can stay with that row.

A recorded zero means something else: an explicit decision to assign no amount to that row or increment. Every entered amount, including zero, needs a rationale. The interface reports the number of unpriced component groups and unpriced allowances separately rather than treating empty cells as finished work.

Even when all rows have amounts, the total describes the recorded scope. Other material, unallocated weight and incomplete measurements can still exist. The frozen inspection reconciliation stays visible so a complete set of entered amounts cannot be mistaken for complete physical coverage of the piece.

Do not add a whole-piece asking price on top of the component sum. Use the separate asking workflow for a selling amount or the resale worksheet for expected proceeds and costs. This study does not blend those different questions into one figure.

The source stays with the saved explanation.

A saved study retains its full inspection revision, recorded non-monetary item facts, evidence and text photo manifest, along with purpose, currency, amounts, rationales, scope assertion, operator and time. Photo references retain the inspection revision they were attached against; they do not prove that original image bytes remain available or grant current download access.

Refreshing the latest source does not rewrite working amounts or an older study. Using a different checked inspection starts a deliberately blank working study and preserves the earlier draft for restoration. A restored draft still needs current-source review before another save; an old basis is not silently rebased.

An interrupted response keeps the original request together. Check that request before an identical retry. Selecting another saved study, refreshing summaries or typing the next amount does not replace an unresolved save. The open page holds this recovery; navigation and hard reload do not preserve it.

The recent list contains twenty small summaries, with truncation explicit. A direct authorized saved-study link opens its full frozen record, including after the item moves away from the recording shop. It does not join the destination’s current item or substitute a later inspection. Existing estimate and resale-worksheet ZIP exports do not include these studies; component-study export remains later work.

Bring the allocation you would want a colleague to question.

Use a stone-set piece with one uncertainty. Record several components, leave a stone unpriced, add a zero allowance with its rationale and explain where a setting increment might overlap the metal row. Change the inspection after saving and ask another staff member to read the earlier source.

The bounded workflow records manual component assumptions. It supplies no live metal pricing, stone price feed, verified comparable, certificate verification, formal appraisal document, signature or appraiser approval. It does not change primary pricing fields, buying estimates, customer records, stock, repair custody or money.

Read the inspection guide for measurement and evidence behavior, the jewelry workflow for the wider counter and current availability for unfinished scope.
