Follow the weight into the price.
Gross weight less non-metal deduction.
Weigh the whole piece, then account for stones or other material that should not be priced as the alloy.
Apply the purity.
A 0.750 purity fraction attributes 75% of that metal weight to fine metal. Karat labels are shortcuts; the recorded fraction is the calculation input.
Use the matching quote and unit.
Divide fine grams by 31.1034768 for troy ounces, then apply a price per troy ounce. A troy ounce is not an ordinary ounce.
Account for recovery, fees and buying assumptions.
Metal value is not the payout. Recovery and buying factors change the amount the calculation produces.
The app currently centers on gold using an XAU quote. Do not use the presence of a purity option as evidence that a matching silver, platinum or palladium price feed is connected.
A price needs a date.
The quote source, amount and timestamp belong with a saved calculation. An old quote can still explain an earlier estimate; it should not silently become a current execution price.
Troctolite flags stale quotes and rechecks freshness when creating an offer. Licensed live feeds and a complete quote-maintenance workflow are still planned. No fallback or sample price should be represented as a current market feed.
Gold today. Broader metals deliberately.
| Area | What you can evaluate now | What remains |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | XAU-based decimal estimates and saved customer/item-linked records. | Licensed feeds and the complete supported execution workflow. |
| Silver | Editable sterling/fine-silver examples in the public browser preview. | Production metal selection, Ag quote handling and silver-specific acceptance. |
| Platinum & palladium | Requirements discussion and purity/weight modeling scope. | Correct metal-to-quote selection, feed support and tested operational flows. |
| Scrap & refining | Item-level metal calculations. | Buckets, stone removal, vendor shipment, assay and settlement reconciliation. |
See current availability before planning an operational switch. A preview is a way to inspect the intended workflow, not proof of a connected production service.
Use a repeatable buying check.
- Confirm the metal before choosing the quote.
- Record the gross unit and deduction; avoid mixing grams, dwt and troy ounces.
- Record the assay result rather than treating a hallmark as a guarantee.
- Check the quote timestamp before a new offer.
- Keep the saved estimate separate from the contract and payout.
- Confirm the location’s supported reporting, payment and hold requirements before execution.
For bullion premiums and collectible value, use a separate evaluation. Coins and bullion have different needs.
